Those who didn’t turn up to watch the reserves at Uxbridge on Monday night missed a treat. The Woods, playing a number of first team squad members, showed their class against a good Uxbridge outfit. On six minutes the impressive Leon Osei was tripped on the edge of the box after a good run and Laurie Walters went close with the free kick.

It took only another two minutes before Woods went ahead when the Uxbridge keeper miskicked a clearance and John Sonuga had an easy task to open the scoring. Uxbridge came back at Northwood and Jamie Lindsay hacked a shot off the line.

On 20 minutes the Woods got number two when Osei made the opening for Sonuga to tap in after the defence could not handle a long throw from Danny Power. Harry Smart was next to try his luck, and the keeper made a great stop with his feet to deny Northwood number three.

But it wasn’t long before it came, when Lee Holland's cross was brilliantly met by Smart who, with a scissor-kick, crashed the ball into the roof of the net. Uxbridge nearly reduced the arrears when Aaron Bufton was called upon to make a great save right on half time.

The home side stepped up their game in the second half and it was contested much more evenly, Bufton having to prove his worth with a number of good saves.

Laurie Walters was giving the right-back a torrid evening with some excellent runs, and his interplay with Osei was superb. The Woods rounded off a good night’s work when Osei beat three defenders in the box, played a one - two with Smart and nonchalantly tapped home number four.
Man of the Match: Leon Osei.

Report: ALLAN GREEN.
